Regarding most political opinions and standpoints I consider myself to be extreamly liberal with the exception of the subject of Abortion. I am a firm believer in the philosophy that all life is sacred. I don't see the difference between having an abortion ( mainly during the second or god forbid third trimester) and taking an infant, shoving it into a plastic bag, and throwing it into a dump. Life is Life, inside or outside of the womb, makes no differnce. I believe every woman has the right to make her own decisions for her body, but what about the baby's body and his or her life?
People say that an unwanted baby will lead a horrible life and it's beter off dead than being raised in an unloving familly. Has any one ever heard of adoption? There are month to year long waiting lists of loving families waiting to take a child into their home, families screened by adoption agencies to make sure they are capable of providing the child with the love and care it needs. Of course I'm not saying everything is black and white, I realize there are grey areas. The birth could cause fatal health risks to the mother and or child, the woman could have been raped and would not mentaly stable enough to carry out the pregnancy. I realize that the definit point when an embryo turns into a child worthy of protecting is fuzzy and hard to pinpoint. I'm not so hard-headed to understand these circumstances. But what really makes me angry is when people fuck around without condoms ( or even with, you should realize the risk you're getting yourself into) get pregnant, and think abortion is just a post pregnancy version of birth controll. If you're going to have sex, thats you're choice, but take the proper precautions if your not ready to raise a child. Women who have multiple abortions just because they can't seem to learn to use contraceptives disgust me. When you decide to have an abortion be concious of the fact that there are plenty of loving families waiting to take in your child, that it IS murder wheather or not you want to look at it that way, and that that child deserves a chance at life. If you don't agree with me, thats fine, you have a right to your opinion as i have a right to mine. |

The sad fact is that birth control fails all the time. Hopefully, the FDA getting off of its lousy rump and approving the hormonal male contraceptive will be a step toward a better tomorrow.
I'm not about to berate people for choices they are making or will make (and please know that I am not accusing you of this!), however, my personal belief is that abortion is a total no-go.
My reasons are different, though. The idea of a late-term abortion does make my stomach turn. Even in the early-term, I just think the process isn't fun for anybody. Who wants a vacuum cleaner 'up-there'? Certainly not me. And if I found myself pregnant, I surely wouldn't subject myself to the unkown herbal 'remedies.' Perhaps my reasons are a little more selfish, but my opposition is undoubtably there and sound.
This image is quite strong, and I commend you! Paired with your argument on the issue, it really got me to think critically about where I stand on this issue.
